"Capture, Comment, Share"
Ojo Joven ("Youth Eye") employs a community action media process (CAMP) to reimagine everyday social media processes as pathways for building community and collective narratives in physical space. "No Mas Calles Rojas"
No Más Calles Rojas, ("No More Red Streets") was a community art campaign developed in response to a wave of gang massacres in Chamelecón, Honduras. During this project, major news outlets, US Politicians, and International Aid organizations were focused on Chamelecón as the
symbolic epicenter of the unaccompanied minor crisis of the summer of 2014.
"Media Sparks"
In a community where youth were targets of violence, where were young people finding belonging? How were they navigating a landscape that threatened young lives? Over the course of two weeks, our 12 counselors collected over 1000 images exploring themes of belonging and fear. These images were then filtered down to 24 "media sparks" that represented collective hypothesis of which images would best elicit stories, experiences, and perspectives from other youth in the community through image-based discussion groups.
